Hello MPC Members,

We need your help to defend critical food security investments from attacks from the Federal government.

The Federal government passed a budget that will take food away from tens of thousands of Seattle residents. This comes on top of a $240M revenue shortfall in the City of Seattle budget. If our elected leaders don't act now to raise additional revenue, MPC members will experience deep budget cuts starting in 2026 and be forced to scale back services at a time of increasing need.

The Shield Seattle Initiative aims to address this by raising $90 Million per year for housing, food and other critical human services. This proposal will lower the Business & Occupation (B&O) Tax for most businesses while increasing the rate for only the largest companies. Over 90% of businesses in Seattle will benefit from a lower tax rate thanks to this proposal.

We also encourage you to join MPC members in giving public testimony in favor of this proposal! Several MPC members will be giving in-person and virtual testimony on Wednesday morning. Hot coffee and fresh donuts will be provided!

Public Testimony will be on Wednesday July 30 at 9:30am. Those testifying in person should arrive at City Hall by 9am, those testifying virtually need to register at this link at 8:30am.
